For this edition, the NS Times partnered with the Salt Lake Tribune to tackle the effects of screens on teens. Many of the stories written for this issue will be published in the Tribune’s newspaper as well.

The collaboration is part of an effort by the Tribune to encourage young writers. Heather May, the Director of Collaboratives, reached out to NS Times advisor Ben Cox in the fall. The class met with May and Lauren Gustus, Executive Director for the Tribune, in October to begin the planning process. NS Times staff also had an online meeting with Trevor Christensen, the Audience and Video Manager, to discuss what goes into creating and editing content.

           The Tribune also provided students with a day at the capitol to learn about how reporters work with politicians by editor Jeff Parrott, photographer Chris Samuels and other Tribune employees.
