Brian Stucki
In a small town, talent and fame seem like a far off dream that is only seen on TV. But local musicians continue
to disprove this stereotype. One source of talent that shines in the lives at NS is none other than local tenor, cellist, and pianist Brian Stucki.
“He held a small concert down here before where he played the cello, he sang, he played the piano, and
honestly, I've never heard a local musician as talented as him,” senior Miley Clawson, editor-in-chief of NS Times said.
Music connoisseur Stucki will perform a concert using his musical talents in support of the NS Times on
Friday, May 8, in the NS high school auditorium. Tickets can be purchased through any journalism student or by scanning the QR code provided.
Stucki's children have been involved with the school newspaper, so Stucki offered the teacher of journalism,
Ben Cox, a concert fundraiser.
“The journalism class does some traveling and they subsidize it so that the students don't have to pay as
much,” Stucki said. “I just thought it would be nice to maybe offer to help out with that. And that they were also having the students sell advertisements and things like that. I offered that to Ben.”
Stucki has been a music fanatic throughout his entire life. At a young age, he was introduced to music by his
parents. His mom was a piano teacher, and his dad also played piano. They would sing together a lot as a family. These experiences are what inspired Stucki to be involved with music in his adult life.
“I begged for piano lessons, and I really wanted to be involved in that whole world. Then I came home and
asked if I could join the school orchestra in fifth grade and play the cello,” Stucki said.
Stucki has been fortunate to turn his musical talents into a career. He traveled the world with his family,
performing at different venues across the globe.
“When we had Kate, it was getting a little more difficult for us to be traveling full-time. I started to transition
into teaching, and that's what led to through some different connections, my getting the job at Snow,” Stucki said.
After traveling the world, Stucki and his family settled down in Spring City, Utah. Stucki is currently a music
professor at Snow college. There, he shares his love of music through classes such as Musical Theater for Musicians.
“I mean, music is a large part of who he is, but when he teaches it to others or he talks to you about it, it's
always just, he's very kind, very polite, and he just has that depth to him and it conveys in everything he does,” Clawson said.
For those who want to hear a performer who has gained experience through singing across the globe, while
supporting a local newspaper, consider attending the concert on Friday, May 8, in the NS high school auditorium.
